COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY SCAN (CT SCAN)
Computed Tomography (CT) utilises X-Ray and superfast computer data processing to image any anatomical parts including organ, soft tissue, blood vessel and bone. It produces a high resolution 3-dimensional anatomical image superior to the conventional X-Ray as it allows a more accurate diagnosis & etiological assessment including pathological identification, origin of the disease and tumour staging.

Coronary Artery Angiogram / CTA
Coronary artery angiogram or CTCA allows accurate assessment of site and amount of coronary arterial plaque deposition, obstructive potential of the plaque, the degree of arterial stenosis and collateral formation so that decision for coronary artery intervention is made and planned accordingly.
Preparation for examinations:

Do not drink coffee or caffeine containing product 24 hours before examination.

Do not take anti-flu medicine, Viagra or other Aphrodisiac drugs 24 hours before examination

Restrain from smoking

On arrival to centre, a heart rate and blood pressure check will be carried out. If heart rate is too fast or irregular, a heart rate reduction medicine such as Betaloc will be given. This may take 30-60 minutes for effect. Thus, client may require spending 1 -2 hours in our centre.

Carotid / Vertebral Artery Angiogram
Carotid /Vertebral artery angiogram assesses arterial disease such as aneurysm, arterio-venous malformation, atherosclerotic stenosis, vasculitis etc.
Patients suitable for these CT tests include those susceptible to the following medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia and smoking.
Preparation for examinations:

As in CT coronary angiogram.
General requirement for examinations:

Prior booking is required on (+852) 3896 0900.

Please inform the centre if there is a possibility of pregnancy or on breast feeding.

Please bring any previous imaging films and reports for reference.

For lower abdominal or pelvic CT, drinking water or oral contrast 30 minutes before the examination is required.
If contrast is required for examinations, please attention on the followings:

Please inform the centre if there is a history of hyperthyroidism, multiple myeloma, renal disease, and allergy (to food, drugs and materials), asthma or eczema.

For those with allergic history or tendency, 40mg Prednisolone taken orally at 12 hours and 2 hours before examination is advised. This can be obtained from your referring doctor. If there is no oral steroid coverage, patient will be given intravenous hydrocortisone before the CT examination at additional cost.

Please inform the centre if patient takes Metformin or Glucophage. These medications must be stopped on the day of the examination and for 48 hours after the CT.

No food or drink for at least 4-6 hours before examination. Usual medication is allowed if taken with a small amount of water (except for Metformin or Glucophage).
